The International Day of Yoga was first proposed by Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji during his historic address at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) on September 27, 2014. Recognizing the universal appeal and holistic benefits of Yoga, the United Nations officially declared June 21 as the International Day of Yoga on December 11, 2014. This date, marking the Summer Solstice, symbolizes light, vitality, and the longest day of the year—making it a fitting tribute to the practice that illuminates lives.
